You can achieve anything you set your mind to

It’s been about 4 months since my last posting. Looking back, what have i done in the 4 months?

1. Took my final exams and graduated from the MSc Industrial and Systems Engineering program from NUS

2. Planned and married the love of my life.

3. Had a wonderful honeymoon on the island of Hawaii

4. Found a new career and that is to teach and educate the young

What more could i ask for? Yes…much more…if you set your mind to achieve them.

Had a great lunch with an old friend yesterday and we came to the discussion about whether my Masters of Science had value in my job hunt. My immediate response to him was that taking the course on a part time basis fundamentally changed the way i viewed myself. The Masters still helped in the job search but nothing as big as the way the course opened my mind to the bigger world out there and also understanding my personal limits (while i continue to break through them). It was very much a “A-Ha!” moment when i realised that i could juggle work, family, friends and studies all in one if i wanted to. If you know what you want to accomplish, you would automatically optimise your time, passion an skills to achieve the goals you set for yourself.

Nothing is impossible. “You can achieve anything you set your mind to”. It may be an over simplification but it’s a start. If you decide to use the sentence as your guiding principle, i am sure you will also come to find your own balance towards achieving the meaning of the sentence.

First time for everything…First guest blog post on Escape the City

Been an extremely exhaustive week as i work towards my future goals and dreams. Attending course, completing assignments and yes how can i forget, completing my pre-wedding photoshoot with my lovely and supportive wife to be!
Anyway, just a short one here before i hit the sack. Here’s the first blog i wrote for Escape the City as i thought about my journey and wanting to do something different. The journey is gonna be tough as i look at the hurdles infront of me but i know i’ll make it through.

Throw off the bowlines and sail towards your dreams

As my Victoria School and Victoria Junior College motto goes.

“Nil Sine Labore” Nothing without labour.

Escape the City

“Stop Dreaming, Start Planning”

This is the title of the Escape the City blog and i cannot agree more with the 4 simple words.

Came across this site by chance and the moment i saw it, i fell in love with its manifesto and what it stood for. Pretty much my blog has found its “big brother blog” that captured so many stories of people in search of their dreams and passion.

Read the blog and feel free to leave your comments on your thoughts about Escaping the Singapore City! Not literally escaping from Singapore but how to break free from the traditional ways Singaporeans think about career and life.

Let’s just try to dream a little bit bigger before we start planning. :)

Explore. Dream. Discover.
